As a practitioner who has specialized in working with cancer patients for over 40 years, I’m often stunned when some cancer patients talk to me about their health. They say something to the effect of, “I am perfectly healthy except for the cancer.” Of course, this is a nonsensical statement.
Cancer is caused by many divergent factors; it is a complex process that operates on many levels of the body/mind constellation. There may be some systems in the body that are still functioning properly in a cancer patient. A woman with breast cancer may have a perfectly functioning heart, for instance. But the one thing that cannot be said accurately is that the person is perfectly healthy “except” for the cancer. There is no “except” in cancer. Here at La Casa Spa & Wellness Center, we've been big fans of floatation for many years, but, as we recently covered, floatation seems to be catching on around the world in a very big way.
Most recently, Britain's BBC Magazine did an extensive exploration of the benefits of floating. The original article can be seen HERE, but we want to share it with you now to offer an outside view of why this relaxing treatment can be of benefit for everyone. If floatation is something you would like to try, or if you have any questions regarding our floatation facilities, please call us at (212) 673-2272. While the standard cost of floatation across the U.S. is $100-150, we charge just $80 for a one-hour service. I am so very excited to announce my latest project to try to make the entire planet cancer-free. Please read below... Is it possible that the best medical diagnosis for cancer has four legs and a tail? Dogs have been deployed for their keen sense of scent detection for many years and for multiple uses, including: agriculture detection, bomb and narcotics detection, criminal apprehension, money detection, contraband, missing persons, police, seizure detection, and bedbugs. There are research centers involved in training cancer detection dogs in the US, Canada, and England. Dogs trained at these facilities have demonstrated as high as 98% accuracy for specific cancers, far exceeding the rates of accuracy of methods currently used and considered the "gold standard" cancer screening methods.
At La Casa, we love water, the element of renewal. Read this review of one of La Casa’s satisfied clients about his first floatation experience: Soaring Through the Canyons of Manhattan: A Floatation Experience. By Lampoet516 Originally posted at Lampoetry.com Earlier this week I celebrated the winter solstice with my first session in a floatation tank. In all likelihood this is not something I would have pursued on my own initiative. In fact, the only reason I found myself sipping peppermint tea in the waiting room of La Casa Spa & Wellness Center on East 20th street, just before lunchtime on Monday, is that my son Danny had proposed it as a holiday present – a bit of father/son bonding in a New Age setting where we went to be suspended in an Epson salt solution. It seems Stephen Curry put the idea in my son’s head, inasmuch as Steph is a big floater and my son is a big Steph Curry fan. Apparently Steph floats, not only on the court when he goes up for his patented long-range jumper, but before every game as part of his warm-up routine, when he semi-submerges himself in a tepid salt-bath.
Almonds labeled "raw" in the United States are harboring a scary secret. Here's how you can avoid it. Are almonds safe to eat? (And the question is relevant for the now almost ubiquitous almond milk and almond butter too.) Unfortunately, it seems that the answer is mostly no.
It's a question that is important to me because now that winter is here, I am making more than ever my batches of dehydrated crackers. Since I gave up eating wheat (after reading Sayer Ji's monograph The Dark Side of Wheat), my dehydrated crackers serve as a nice substitute for bread. My favorite recipe is for my Rosemary Crackers, for which I use sprouted flaxseeds and sprouted almonds. It is important to sprout raw nuts and seeds by soaking them first. Nature's defense mechanisms include nutritional inhibitors and toxic substances: enzyme inhibitors, phytates (phytic acid), polyphenols (also known as tannins), and goitrogens. All these are removed automatically by nature when it rains—the nut or seed gets wet and can then germinate to produce a plant. When we soak our nuts and seeds, we are mimicking nature. It is one of the simplest as well as oldest, therapies available. It’s also one of the most effective, and for such a wide range of ailments that it begins to sound like science fiction.
It also demonstrates the hormesis effect (as does low-level radiation that I have written about in the past). Essentially, the hormesis effect demonstrates that In a therapeutic dosage, the substance in question cures; too much, however, kills. FOREWORD
It was with great sadness that I learned of Nicholas Gonzalez’s sudden and mysterious death. I last spoke to Nick at a conference just a few months ago where we were both speaking. I reminded him of the long-ago time that we had first met—at the Foundation for Advancement of Cancer Therapies conference—where we were, similarly, both speaking. Nick immediately, without a moment’s hesitation, said: “Yes, 1987.” As always, I was impressed with his miraculous memory, which surely contributed to his vast intelligence. I myself would have had to count back, think, find time signposts, etc – it would have taken me quite a while to figure out the exact year we had met. But my memory, like his was, is still pretty good. And I remember even that far back that he was into coffee enemas. I remember when I first went to Europe, in the mid 60s, I was appalled that there were countries that did not have toilets for travelers. Some places (I remember especially Greece) had small rooms that had drains in the floor. The only option was to squat. It seemed quite primitive to me at the time.
It turns out they knew a thing or two. In fact, until the mid-1850s, people everywhere squatted to eliminate. We now know that sitting on a modern toilet places your health at risk. Non-Westernized societies, in which people squat rather than sit, do not have the high prevalence of bowel disease seen in developed nations; in some cultures with traditional lifestyles, these diseases are virtually unknown. There’s compelling evidence suggesting the Western toilet is, at least in part, responsible not only for constipation and hemorrhoids, but also more severe health problems like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), appendicitis, and even heart attacks—caused by the disruption of blood flow and straining. |
